I work at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on the Agricultural Development team within the Global Development Program. You can read more about what we do here.
The last few weeks I have been in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for a conference on early generation seed. It was a beautiful experience. Part of the conference was spent visiting the Ethiopia Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR). You can read more about what EIAR does here.
I am sharing photos that I took during out visit to EIAR. While we were at the EIAR various conversations took place around early generation seed. I specifically sat in on the potato discussion. There is so much to share about our visit but my favorite part of my meeting was to hear from the farmer himself. He traveld 80 kilometers to spend time with us to discuss and share his own personal experience with farming. The EIAR is currently celebrating their “50 Years of Services for Ethiopian Agriculture” and there was a beautiful exhibit that we got to take part in during our visit. I took the below photos of the exhibit. If you would like to learn more about the 50th years of service you can read more here.
